Terms and conditions

Application Procedure and payments

1. All families must complete the Au Pair Network International booking form, weekly schedule.

2.  Au Pair Network International agrees to make contact with Host family within 24h of receiving booking or interview request.

3. The host family agrees to advise Au Pair Network International immediately after the telephone interview as to their decision on the Au Pair/Mother’s Help.

4. In the event that the applicant is not acceptable to the family or the family to the applicant, host family can browse our database of available Au Pairs / Mothers Help and request future interviews.

5. Au Pair Network International will within 48 hours advise the Host family of the applicant’s agreement to accept the Host family offer.

6. At this stage when both Host family and the applicant have agreed to the placement the payment to Au Pair Network International becomes payable and an invoice will be raised accordingly.

7. The Host family agrees to send the Au Pair/Mother’s Help invitation letter and family picture presentation to Au Pair Network International within 3 days of acceptance of the applicant.

8. The total balance of the fees due is payable 21 days prior to the arrival of the Au Pair/Mother’s Help. In cases where the arrival of the Au Pair/Mother’s Help is in less than 21 days, the entire sum is payable immediately. Renewal, extension and pro rata fees are payable 21 days prior to the expiring of the contract.

9. The Host family agree to complete and sign the Host family and Au Pair/Mother’s Help house rules and within the 48 hours of the Au Pair’s/Mother’s Help arrival.

10. Childcare Guaranty
Should you Au Pair/Mother’s Help wish to leave prematurely due to homesickness or other personal reasons APNI will guarantee to provide you with replacement within guaranty period. This guarantee is void if the host family has not adhered to the payment terms or if the reason for the Au Pair’s/Mother’s Help departure is gross misconduct of the family. Host families are requested to ensure that they make use of the APNI appraisal scheme since failure to use it may also render the guarantee void. APNI undertake to replace unsuitable Au Pair/Mother’s Help or one that has departed prematurely, however it can not offer a refund of replacement fee. Chosen guaranty period will be clearly stated on the invoice.

11. 12 Months Contract (Childcare Guaranty; Au Pairs only)
Au Pair Network International’s contract provides you with Au Pair’s for a 12 months consecutive period providing that the invoice is paid in due time. Should you require replacement one will be provided without further charge within contact period. It should be noted that if you wish to extend the stay of your Au Pair who you started the contract with, an extension fee will be applicable. However should you wish to extend the stay of your replacement Au Pair beyond 12 months contract it should be noted that such extension will be payable on a pro rata base. Should you wish to renew your contract you can do so by informing us.

In the unlikely event that APNI cannot provide a replacement APNI will refund the remaning period of the contract on pro rata basis. APNI shall not be liable for any additional costs incurred.

12. Appraisal Scheme
Au Pair Network International requests families to use the appraisal scheme at the end of the first week, first month, and first quarter. This helps to identify any matters or concerns that the Au Pair/Mother’s Help or family might need to discuss and reduces the risk of falling out.

13. Methods of Payment
Payment may be made by cheque payable to “Au Pair Network International” or by Switch or creditcard (Visa/Mastercard).

14. Payment to the Au Pairs and Mother’s Helps.
Au Pairs and Mother’s Helps must be paid weekly in arrears in accordance with the amounts agreed on the application form. They must be given their own bedroom and receive full board. All Au Pairs staying a minimum of 10 months must receive:
* A minimum of £100 program completion fare reimbursement payable by the host family at the end of the stay of the Au Pair.
* A minimum of £60 contribution towards language classes and local travel payable by the host family in 3 equal instalments throughout the Au Pair stay.

15. Holidays
Au Pairs and Mother’s Helps must also receive one week off with pay for every six months worked. Where the Au Pair/Mother’s Help is asked to accompany the family on the family holiday this does not constitute part of the Au Pair’s holiday entitlement.

16. Termination of the Au Pair/Mother’s Help
In the event of a Host family or the Au Pair/Mother’s Help wishing to terminate their agreement5, either party must give each other at least 14 day’s notice, and inform Au Pair Network International of their decision. In the event of gross misconduct by the family the Au Pair/Mother’s Help shall be entitled to terminate the engagement with immediate effect.

In the event of gross misconduct by the family the Au Pair/ Mother’s Help shall be entitled to terminate the engagement immediately and Au Pair Network International shall have no further obligation to the family whatsoever. In both cases APNI must be warned immediately.

17. Extension of the Au Pair’s Stay
Should your Au Pair/Mother’s Help agree to stay with your family beyond the 12 months contract, Au Pair Network International shall be advised immediately and the host family shall pay an additional supplementary fee of £300 plus vat (£352.50). This does not include a replacement guarantee.

18. Treatment of the Au Pair/Mother’s Help
By agreeing to take an Au Pair/ Mother’s Help the Host family agrees to treat her/him as a member of the family and to respect the working hours and payment terms and work responsibility as described in the application form and weekly timetable.

19. Renewal of the contract
Should th Host Family wish to renew their 12 month contract they may do so upon giving APNI 21 days notice of their intention to do so prior to the expiry of the contract.
Renewal fees are not subject to price increases.

The 10 months completion scheme

APNI is raising the profile of the Au Pair experience by asking families to provide all Au Pairs staying a minimum of 10 months with the following:

A Programme Completion Fare Reimbursement Minimum £100
  • To help all Au Pairs meet the cost of their travel expenses.
  • To encourage all Au Pairs to stay longer and complete the full length of their stay.
  • To provide greater stability and continuity for you children.
  • Payable by the host family at the end of the Au Pair’s agreed stay.

A Contribution Towards Language Classes/Local Fares
  • A £60 (minimum) to assist your Au Pair with the cost of either her English classes or local fares.
  • Payable by the host family in 3 equal instalments of minimum £20 each throughout the Au Pair’s stay.
